Million Penny Drive
GIRARD -- Girard High School's citizenship class will conduct a Million Penny Drive beginning Monday to help the victims of the terrorist attacks.
Joseph Naples, a social studies teacher, said the collection will run through Nov. 16. Collection containers will be put in area businesses.
Naples said his students decided to attempt to collect $10,000 in pennies as part of a required public service project. Proceeds will go to the Trumbull County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
"We wanted to do something different," Naples said, noting that athletic teams, student government and other groups will help collect.
