SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Dr. Russell Wright, one of Slippery Rock University's most respected and generous alumni, will serve as grand marshal for the university's traditional homecoming parade this year.
He will be saluted with the unveiling of a bronze bust at the campus fitness center that bears his name.
SRU's alumni house is also named in honor of the 97-year-old Wright.
Homecoming week kicks off Sunday under the theme "Rock and Roll Legends" and will include a week of music, featuring concerts by Nerve Ending and the Buzz Poets. Events culminate with SRU's football team playing Shippensburg University at 2 p.m. Oct. 6 in N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
