SUSAN MALIEDUANE WATKINS
NASSAU, BAHAMAS -- Nuptial vows were exchanged at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 25 by Susan Maria Malie, 21661 Brookhurst St., Huntington Beach, Calif., and Duane Watkins, 1473 West Ave., Fullerton, Calif., as they were married during an ocean-side ceremony at Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort.
The Rev. A. Dewitt Hutcheson presided at the wedding, and a reception was held afterward in the outside garden room at the resort.
After honeymooning in the Caribbean, the couple live in Fullerton.
Parents of the bride are Joseph and Portia Malie, 465 Annawan Lane, Boardman, and the groom is a son of Mary T. Watkins, 5250 E. 25th St., Long Beach, Calif., and the late Robert W. Watkins.
The bride's Italian silk sheath gown was designed with a corset-style bodice, scooped neckline and a sweep train.
A scarlet gown with silver accents was worn by the honor attendant, Amanda Jo Malie of Boardman, a sister of the bride.
Serving as best man was Mylin Watkins of Hollywood, Calif., a brother of the groom.
The bride graduated from Kent State University with a degree in dietetics. She is a technical educator with Vitamer Laboratories Inc. in Lake Forest, Calif., and a free-lance writer with the National Dietetics Association magazine.
The groom, a carpenter with California State College, Long Beach, is a bass guitarist with Grimace, a Los Angeles-based band.
The couple will be honored Dec. 29 during a postnuptial reception at The Elm Tree in Struthers.
