MIKE BRAUN Groups aim to get women outdoors

How would you like a lifelong hunting or fishing partner? One who would be there at your side, rain or shine, freezing or sweltering, good harvest or no harvest?
You male readers out there can have that opportunity if you sign up your partner for any of the Women in the Outdoors events planned in the coming months.
These events offer women a chance to get a glimpse of what enjoying the outdoors is all about.
Women in the Outdoors activities include instruction on fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, mountain biking and shooting, as well as many other exciting activities.
Events: One such event was held yesterday, sponsored by the Thundering Toms of Trumbull Co. at the Brookfield Conservation Club on Sharon-Hogue Road. For more information on any future events, contact them at (330) 965-0108.
Events planned later in the year include one set up by the Juniata Gobblers, Pa., in Everett, Pa. Contact the Everett Sportsmen Club at (814) 652-5014.
Another event is planned by the Lawrence County Sportsmans Club on Harbor Road in nearby New Castle, Pa.
This event is planned as a shotgun sports introduction and will include skeet, sporting clays and 5-stand style activities.

Forums: Instructional forums such as Women in the Outdoors, sponsored by the National Wild Turkey Federation, and the sister activity Becoming an Outdoors Woman, co-sponsored by the Ohio Division of Wildlife and the national BOW organization, are excellent opportunities to give the women in your life -- wife, girlfriend, significant other, or even mother, daughter or grandmother -- a chance to see why you have such a love for the outdoors.
