Diabetes Web site
The Central Ohio Diabetes Association has launched CODA Kids, a new Web site for children ages 7 to 17 with diabetes. The Web site is a place for youths to share their feelings with others who have diabetes, and also provides information about diabetes such as diabetes care, kid-tested recipes, diabetes in the classroom, and how kids with diabetes can participate safely in sports. Parenting workshops
BOARDMAN -- Catholic Charities Regional Agency is offering a free workshop for parents of children up to the age of 6from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 and Nov. 1 at the agency office, 4495 Market St. Topics will include handling the stress of parenting, developmental stages and expectations for children up to the age of 6, and skills to build and keep a positive relationship with children. Benefit scheduled
CANFIELD -- The third annual Joshua Walker Benefit Car Cruise will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sept. 30 at Emmanuel Ministries, 6512 Kirk Road. Joshua, 4, suffers from a rare and debilitating disease called metachromatic leukodystrophy that attacks the brain causing loss of all muscle control. He is unable to walk, talk, chew or swallow and has been nourished through a feeding tube for the past two years. Proceeds from the car show will help offset the family's medical bills. Eye screening program
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries' Amblyopia Vision Screening Program is seeking volunteers to help screen preschool children in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties for amblyopia, commonly known as lazy eye. Breast cancer program
CANFIELD -- The Mahoning Valley American Cancer Society recently certified or recertified 12 area women in the Reach to Recovery breast cancer program. The women, who have overcome breast cancer and are one year past surgery and treatment, are trained to visit newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and provide a temporary prosthesis and bra, non-medical information, and discuss their experiences of surviving breast cancer. Children's camp
HIRAM -- Camp Falling Leaf, a weekend camp for children 7 through seniors in high school who have lost a loved on to death, will be Oct. 4-7 at Camp Asbury. During the camp, sponsored by the Visiting Nurse & amp; Hospice Association of Northeast Ohio in Howland and Robinson Memorial Visiting Nurse & amp; Hospice of Ravenna, each child is teamed with a trained adult buddy for the weekend to help put the loss in perspective. Parenting group

Feline competition
NILES -- Five hundred purebred cats will be entered in the 2001 Great Lakes Regional Qualifier, a Cat Fanciers' Association show, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 13 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 14 at Eastwood Expo Center.
