Event for diabetes scheduled for Oct. 7



CANFIELD -- The American Diabetes Association will sponsor America's Walk for Diabetes Oct. 7 at the Canfield Fairgrounds, Route 46.
Over 400 walkers are expected to participate in raising funds for national research programs, patient education and support programs in the Youngstown area.
Walkers will check in at 9 a.m. with the walk beginning at 10. Two walks will be available, a 5.5-mile walk through Canfield or a one-mile fun walk around the fairgrounds.
There will be a continental breakfast, and prizes will be awarded. Those raising $100 or more will receive a T-shirt, and there will be NFL-themed rest stops with snacks and water. There will also be pizza for lunch and goody bags and entertainment at the finish line.
