BEDFORD -- Just when everybody was wondering when the Mount Union football team had last lost a regular-season game, it didn't matter anymore.
Trailing 30-27 with 2 minutes, 4 seconds remaining and the ball on its own 32-yard line, Mount Union begin an incredible march which saw the Purple Raiders score with 26 seconds left for a 33-30 victory at Bedford Bearcat Stadium.
The Purple Raiders found themselves on the John Carroll 42. Moments later, tight end Josh Liddel turned in possibly the game's biggest play. On a fourth-and-two at the 35, Liddel caught a pass while being harassed by three defenders.
The acrobatic reception put Mount Union at the 28.
With another first down at the 18, quarterback Rob Adamson found Jason Candle with an 11-yard pass to the 7. Two plays later, running back Chuck Moore scored the deciding points.
Staying focused: Moore said, "We practice that two-minute drill every week and we just wanted to keep on making plays."
Still, John Carroll had one last chance at tying the contest, but a 47-yard field goal attempt from Josh Hose missed.
Mount Union coach Larry Kehres, said on Liddel's catch: "He kept his concentration and was able to pull it in. From our prospective, that was a critical play."
Moore, who scored three TDs, rushed 31 times for 128 yards.
Adamson hit on 25-of-38 passes for 254 yards, one TD and two interceptions.
Tom Arth connected on 19-of 33 passes for 277 yards and four TDS and was intercepted three times.
Rally caps: The Mount victory saw the Purple Raiders come from behind twice, once on the game-winning drive and another time when John Carroll turned two interceptions into 10 points and a 17-14 lead at 7:13 of the third quarter.
Wasting little time, Mount Union opened the game using up five minutes and 30 seconds going 77 yards in 12 plays with Moore scoring on a 1-yard run on a fourth-and-goal.
On the Purple Raiders' next possession they had a first-and-goal from the 4. A fumble thwarted the drive.
Mount Union was so dominant that they held a 132-minus 8 advantage in rushing yards.
At the end of the first quarter, Mount Union had a 8-1 advantage in first downs and a 10:12 to 4:48 in time of possession.
Aided by Matt Campbell's fumble recovery at John Carroll's 46, Mount started its second scoring drive covering the distance in eight plays in 2 minutes and 48 seconds.
Moore again was the big gun using a nice inside move to produced a 11-yard TD burst for a 14-0 margin.
The Blue Streaks came to life on their next possession as quarterback Arch leading the charge.
Arch engineered a 11-play, 80-yard drive by competing 8-of-9 passes for 73 yards.
