Covered bridges remain a legacy

Grove City College is looking for nominations for the 19th annual Florence E. MacKenzie Campus Community Awards.
The honor, named after the late wife of former Grove City President Dr. Charles S. MacKenzie, is given to members of the Grove City community who best exemplify Florence MacKenzie's efforts to improve the relationship between the campus and the community. One person from the college and one from the community are honored each year.
Individuals or organizations may make nominations, which should be sent to the selection committee chairman by Oct. 5. The recipients will be announced in mid-October and recognized at a reception in November.
Nominations should include a letter stating why the nominee should be considered. They should be sent to Jayne Mincey, Campus-Community Awards, Grove City College, Box 1141, 200 Campus Drive, Grove City, Pa. 16127.
Conference: Matthew Mangino, Lawrence County district attorney, was one of two Pennsylvania prosecutors awarded a scholarship to the National District Attorneys Association weeklong conference on the press and law in South Carolina.
The conference was the first of its kind, designed to provide prosecutors with a better understanding of the ethical issues and community relations involved in dealing with the press.
Only 165 prosecutors from across the country were invited to attend the conference, which was the week of Sept. 10. Deidra M. Eshlemen of Lebanon County was the only other Pennsylvania prosecutor invited to attend.
