BOARDMAN -- Man of the Year, Woman of the Year and Volunteer of the Year awards and the Courage Award for cancer survivors will be presented by the Mahoning County Unit of the American Cancer Society at its annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at noon Oct. 2 at the Holiday Inn, 7410 South Ave., Boardman. All who volunteered for ACS over the past year are invited to attend, said Dr. William S. Begalla, volunteer president of the Mahoning County ACS.
Teeter-totter marathon
HOWLAND -- A 24-hour teeter-totter marathon will be sponsored by Howland Kiwanis Club beginning at 4 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of Howland Plaza Giant Eagle. Proceeds will benefit Northeast Ohio Adoption Services in Warren. Donations supporting the project will be accepted by any club member at the marathon.
