Sheriff adds 6 deputies to department



YOUNGSTOWN -- Mahoning County Sheriff Randall A. Wellington swore in six deputies Friday, which gives the department 257 officers.
Each of the deputies received a "rigorous" background check, including psychological, drug and polygraph tests, the sheriff said in a press release. The new deputies will report to work Monday.
They are:
UJames C. Davis, 24, of Austintown, a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. He has served as a reserve deputy.
UDavid J. Luther, 28, of Niles, a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and Youngstown State University. He was previously employed by the department.
UChristina L. Kachaylo, 25, of Sharon, a graduate of Mercer High School. She had been employed by Yourga Trucking.
UKirk A. Mines, 28, of Warren, a graduate of Our Lady of Victory High School. He served in the Army for six years, including a six-month assignment in Bosnia in 1997.
UMary T. Guzzo, 40, of Youngstown, a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and Hocking Technical College and National Ranger Training Institute. She has worked for both the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Mill Creek Metro Parks.
UJohn R. Stamp, 31, of Columbiana, a graduate of Columbiana High School. He served eight years in the Army, where he became an Airborne Ranger. He has worked for the Columbiana and Washingtonville police departments and R & amp;L Carriers in Columbiana.
