Police look into robberyof YSU student
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are investigating the robbery an 18-year-old Youngstown State University student reported early today.
The student, of Louisville, Ohio, told police she was robbed by two men in a beige car around 12:30 a.m. at the corner of Wick Avenue and Eastbound Service Road, just north of the Arms museum. The student said a beige car pulled up behind her car and a man carrying a gun got out of the passenger side.
The man with the gun approached the student's car and ordered her to get out. A second man then put the student in a chokehold while the first man took $11 from her pocket.
Both men got in their car and fled, the student said.
Charged in violence
AUSTINTOWN -- A North Redgate Lane man was arrested and charged by police with two counts of domestic violence after his live-in girlfriend, who has multiple sclerosis, said he threatened to beat her.
The woman said she asked the man, 42, to take a shower after he came home drunk late Saturday. The man then put his fist in the woman's face and threatened to beat her.
The woman's daughter also told police that he tried to wrap a phone cord around her neck.
Officer threatened
AUSTINTOWN -- A Baker Street man was arrested Sunday evening after threatening to kill a police officer.
Police were called to the area near Meridian and Crum roads around 7:15 p.m. Sunday to investigate a report of a knife fight. When police arrived, they found the Baker Street man, 18, walking rapidly west on Crum Road, waving his fists in the air and yelling profanities.
The man turned toward one of the police cars that arrived at the scene, pointed at the cruiser, and said "I'll kill you too," according to police reports. An officer, concerned that the man had a knife, stepped out of his cruiser and pointed his gun at the man.
The man then began to jog west on Crum Road.
Eventually, police warned the man that he would have to calm down or a police dog would be released. The man paused and stared at the dog, allowing officers to tackle him.
Police charged him with aggravated menacing, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Crafters sought

Man, 19, stabbed
YOUNGSTOWN -- A South Side man who was stabbed in his home was in stable condition in St. Elizabeth Health Center this morning, a hospital official said.
The man, 19, of West La Clede Avenue, was stabbed three to five times on his right side Sunday afternoon by a 46-year-old man of the same address, police said. The 46-year-old was arrested and charged with felonious assault.
Police were first called to the house at 1 p.m. by the 46-year-old, who said he wanted the younger man out of the house. The 19-year-old had gone to a neighbor's house.
Police warned the 46-year-old to stay away from the younger man.
At 1:30 p.m., police were called back to the home to investigate a stabbing. The 46-year-old told officers that the 19-year-old had come back to the home to get his things, began to push him and called him a crackhead.
The 46-year-old said he then stabbed the 19-year-old with a kitchen knife, stood over him and pointed the knife at his chest, but decided not to kill him.
The 19-year-old was taken to the hospital by a friend in a nearby van.
Beaver trustees meet
NORTH LIMA -- Beaver Township trustees will meet in special session at 7 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the recently tar-and-chipped roads. Their regular monthly meeting will follow at 7:30 p.m. Both meetings will be in the township meeting room in the South Range Plaza. The meetings had originally been scheduled for last Tuesday, but were canceled because of the terrorist attacks.
