WARREN Cayson helps JFK to 22-7 win over Kennedy

WARREN -- Nursing a 15-7 lead with 8 minutes, 48 seconds remaining in Saturday's game against Kennedy Catholic, the Warren JFK High football team produced its best drive of an unbeaten season.
More accurately, running back Josh Cayson turned in his best drive of the year.
Behind Cayson's legs, Warren JFK gobbled up most of the remaining time by marching 86 yards to a touchdown and a 22-7 victory at Mollenkopf Stadium.
Taking over at the 14, Cayson got the call 13 straight times, gaining 64 yards to send his 4-0 Eagles to the Kennedy Catholic 22.
The drive nearly stalled until quarterback Alex Senk picked up 10 yards on a fourth-and-6 play.
Touchdown: Cayson took over again with four straight carries, crashing over the goal line from the 4 to pad the JFK lead to 15 points.
"When the ball is in his hands, it's very safe," Warren JFK coach Tony Napolet said. "He loves being the aggressor and he's a great back who does it all."
On the final scoring drive, Cayson gained 76 yards on 17 carries.
On the night, the senior running back had 184 yards on 31 tries.
"Our team needed help and I was able to step it up a little," said Cayson of the fourth-quarter dominance. "On the last drive, we kept punching it and punching it, and we were finally able to get it in."
This marked the fourth-straight game that the 5-11 senior has topped the 100-yard mark as he has 701 yards on the year.
Prior to the long drive, Kennedy Catholic had a chance to tie the game with a first-and-10 at the Warren JFK 10.
Drive stoppers: But a penalty and two rushing plays that resulted in negative yardage stopped the drive.
Kennedy Catholic ruled in the first quarter, outgaining Warren JFK, 58-7.

After the pickoff, Kennedy Catholic drove 39 yards on eight plays and went ahead 7-0 when Phillip Doyle scored on 3-yard run with 10:08 to play before halftime.
Doyle gained 32 yards on the drive.
After that, Warren JFK took charge as their average field position after seven possessions was the JFK 45.
With 5:18 to go, Cayson scored from the 10 to tie the game.
Warren JFK went ahead 9-7 when the Kennedy Catholic punter retrieved a high snap and was tackled in the end zone.
On the ensuing punt, Warren JFK started at the 42 and marched.
Kennedy Catholic's ninth penalty moved JFK to the Kennedy Catholic 27 where Cayson scored on the next play.
On the night, Senk gained 81 yards on 11 carries.
