SOCCER Duracky powers Mooney to fifth



Behind Katie Duracky's four goals, Mooney padded its undefeated record to 5-0.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Katie Duracky scored four goals and added one assist, to lead the Cardinal Mooney High girls soccer team to a 7-0 victory over Beaver Local Saturday.
The Cardinals (5-0) also had two goals from Amy Edwards and one goal by Molly Blasko, while Angela Duckett added an assist. Mooney's goalkeeper Adrianne DeTesco finished with five saves. Beaver Local's record is 1-4-2.
Newton Falls 5, Maplewood 2: NEWTON FALLS -- Desiree Sterling had three goals and one assist to lead Newton Falls (1-5). Lynsey Manos added one goal and two assists, Heather Martin one goal and Kelliann Collins one assist to reinforce the Tigers. Goalie Rachael Brazin came up with 14 saves.
For Maplewood (1-5), Diana Holmes and Tara Buxton each had one goal, while goalie Ana Holmes delivered 15 saves.
Warren JFK 7, Bristol 0: BRISTOLVILLE -- Sarah McNeil and Alli Hazboun each had two goals and one assist to lead Warren JFK (4-1-1). Jen Burin added one goal and one assist while Lauren Natale and Melissa Peterson each scored one goal and Katie Roberts had four assists. Goalies Addie Jenkins and Michelle Rossio had three and two assists, respectively.
Bristol (3-2-2) goalie Nancy Davis had 18 saves, while Tony Kolonick, another goalie, had four.
Akron St. Vincent-Mary 2, Champion 0: AKRON -- Mia Wood and Amy Darcki scored for the Irish.
The Irish had more shots on goal, 22-5. The Flashes are 3-2. Liz Wood saved 15 shots for the Flashes.
Hubbard 3, Lake 1: LAKE -- Anna DeJulio scored two goals and Adrienne Wolf added a third to lead Hubbard (5-1-1) past Uniontown Lake.
Angela Baca added one assist for the Eagles and goal keeper Lynle Cornell had four saves. Cindy Crum scored Lake's lone goal while Cathy Stuck had 16 saves in goal.
Salem 1, Dover 1: SALEM -- Angela Ventresto scored from in front of the goal midway through the second half for the Quakers.
Alyson Cotter had the assist on the Salem goal which made it 1-0. Salem is 0-5-2. Dover scored with 32 seconds left in the match. Dover is 3-3-1.
Salem had more shots on goal 26-8.
Canfield 2, West Branch 0: BELOIT -- Amy D'Amico and Erin Fening each scored one goal to pace Canfield (3-4). Goalkeeper Noelle Zalac had five saves for the Cardinals.
Goalie Rachael Kocher of West Branch had 19 saves.
Boys: BRISTOLVILLE -- Sam Ratcliffe scored twice to lead Bristol (4-3) over Crestview 3-2.
Vince Hill also scored for the Panthers. Tim Fike made 13 saves.
Chad Vollnogle made 27 saves for the Rebels (4-4). Chris Cook and Jamiel Radman netted the Crestview goals.
JFK 3, Canton Central Catholic 2: WARREN -- Sal Coppola, John BeCrispofaro and Shawn Bean each scored goals as JFK (3-3) beat Central (4-3). Coppola and Anthony Joseph each had an assist. Ryan Wolnick had 13 saves for JFK and Central's Jared Singer had 11 saves. Jeff Kraynik had both goals for Central.
Lakeview 4, Niles 4: NILES -- Eric Faith of Niles scored on a 25-yard direct kick late in the game to knot the score at 4-all.
Brad McFadden scored the other three goals for Niles (5-1-2).
Phillip Butch and Shawn Upshir each had two goals for the Bulldogs (2-2-4). Brett Gatta had seven saves for Niles while Alex Koltsov and Ben Bell combined to save nine shots for Lakeview.
Champion 3, Ursuline 2: WARREN -- Michael Smith scored three goals for the Golden Flashes (4-0-2).
P.J. Graves and Brian Rabel scored for the Irish (4-1-2).
Min Paik had the assist for the Irish.
