Runcans observe 60th anniversary at family dinner



YOUNGSTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Earl Runcan, 1157 E. Shawnee Trail, were the guests of honor as their 60th wedding anniversary was celebrated at a family dinner party Aug. 25 at the Olive Garden Restaurant in Boardman.
Hosts for the festivities were their children and their spouses, Earl and Lynn Runcan of Boardman, Elaine and Stan Daywalt of Winchester, Va., and John and Jan Runcan of Youngstown. Completing the family are six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The former Florence Kosa and Mr. Runcan exchanged marriage vows Aug, 24, 1941, at St. Mary Romanian Byzantine Church on Prospect Street. They are members of St. Mary Byzantine Church on South Belle Vista Avenue.
Prior to retiring in 1986, Mr. Runcan was the dispensing optician and contact lens specialist with Drs. William E. Sovik and G. Sevachko for 35 years. He served five years in the medical corps with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mrs. Runcan was employed as a sales clerk at Livingston and the Betty Goodman stores and in the monogramming department at Strouss department store before retiring in 1982. She also served for five years as a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
