Parent-child programs
YOUNGSTOWN -- YMCA Parent-child programs allow mothers and fathers the opportunity to strengthen their lifelong relationships with their children.
Designed for parents and their 5- to 9-year-old children, the program offers planned outings and activities. Events include weekend camping at Camp Fitch, holiday gatherings, crafts and field trips.
Four parent-child groups are offered: Y-Guides for fathers and sons; Y-Princesses for fathers and daughters; Y-Maidens for mothers and daughters; and Y-Braves for mothers and sons. Parents and children are formed into "tribes" by grouping six to nine parents and their children from the same neighborhoods.
The YMCA is scheduling area meetings so people can learn more about the programs: Wednesday, Canfield Presbyterian Church; Thursday, Market Street Elementary School; Sept. 24, Youngstown YMCA; and Sept. 25, Byzantine Catholic Central School. All meetings will be at 7 p.m.
