'Imperfect Souls' is effort by Liberty native

Lisa Boucher, a former Youngstown resident and Liberty High School graduate, published her first novel, "Imperfect Souls."
The novel delves into the life of Leigha Scott, a drug addict who turns her life around to become a successful criminal defense lawyer.
During her unsavory past, Leigha loses custody of her twin sons and has a romantic entanglement with a man who is murdered by the Spanish Mafia.
Although the events of Leigha's past are suspenseful, the primary conflict of the book blossoms when one of her long-lost sons, unaware that Leigha is his biological mother, is charged with murder and shows up at her law office.
Boucher, who now lives in Dayton, is a registered nurse in an emergency room and trauma center. She is completing a second novel, "Solomon's Creek."

At Barnes & amp; Noble
On Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. the Barnes & amp; Noble Booksellers at 381 Boardman-Poland Road will present "Kids in Print," a group for students in grades 6 through 12 to help them develop writing skills. On Friday at 7:30 p.m. the American Girls will head back in time to the 1930s. A fun time, craft and snack will be involved.
On Saturday at 2 p.m., Chicagoan Tim W. Brown will read from his newest book, "Left of The Loop."
Also appearing that day will be local author Gene Hassan, a retired schoolteacher, who will read from his second book of poetry "More."
On Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. parents should bring their cameras to Barnes & amp; Noble. The story of "Biscuit" by Alyssa Satin Capucilli will be read, and Biscuit will make an appearance.
