The American Heart Association Youngstown Metro Division's annual Heart Walks are Saturday, Sept. 22, at Boardman Township Park for Mahoning and Northern Columbiana counties and Cafaro Field behind the Eastwood Mall in Niles for Trumbull County. Walkers raise money for local use and research by securing pledges. Registration is at 8 a.m., and the walk will begin at 9 a.m. at both locations. Beverages and light refreshments will be provided.
Fibromyalgia course
LISBON -- The Arthritis Foundation of Northeast Ohio is offering a seven-week self-help course for people with fibromyalgia Sept. 27 through Nov. 8. The course is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Vista Centre, 100 Vista Drive. Call (800) 245-2275 before Sept. 24 to register and for cost information.
Kids Day activities
CANFIELD -- Chiropractor Dr. Lisa Provenza will participate in the seventh annual Kids Day America/International on Saturday by offering free safety tips and health screenings from noon to 3 p.m. at Pro Family Chiropractic Center, 36958 Boardman-Canfield Road. The Mahoning County Sheriff's Department will provide free fingerprinting for all children, the Canfield Fire Department will bring a firetruck and teach fire safety tips, and Dr. Provenza will provide free spinal exams and scoliosis screenings.
St. Joseph MRI system
WARREN -- St. Joseph Health Center will unveil its new $2 million Siemens Magnetom Vision MRI system during an open house Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon at the health center's radiology department, 667 Eastland Ave. S.E., Warren.

Lifeguard training
NILES -- The Eastwood Family YMCA will offer a lifeguard class from Sept. 28 through Oct. 20.
Participants must be at least 16, know all of the strokes and swim 500 yards. CPR and first aid skills are required before a certification card is issued. The sessions will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
Recertifications and crossovers will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20.
End-of-life care
ROOTSTOWN -- The Office of Continuing Medical Education at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine will conduct "End of Life in Long-Term Care: A How-To Care Guide for Professionals," from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Oct. 12.
