Benefit walk planned Oct. 6
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ohio Buckeye Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will hold an MS-Walk Oct. 6 at Boardman Park. Featured will be a two-mile wheelchair accessible route and a five-mile scenic trail route.
The MS-Walk comes on the heels of the chapter opening a new office in Liberty Township and is planned as a fun way to arouse awareness about MS and to raise funds to support research for a cure.
Registration for the event will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a celebratory picnic. There will be rest stops with free refreshments, first aid and restroom facilities, and a special vehicle to transport tired walkers.
How it works: Walkers will be asked to solicit pledges. Those turning in $75 or more of funds on MS-Walk day will receive an official T-shirt and be eligible for other prizes. All pledges must be collected and turned in by Nov. 6.
Among those sponsoring the event are Boardman Township Park, Forum Health, Humility of Mary Health Partners, Howland Springs Water Company, Mocha House Caf & eacute; and Eatery, National City Bank, Papa John's, Teamsters Local 377, and WKBN TV-27.
To register or for additional information on the MS-Walk, participants may contact Chris Knupp at the Youngstown office, (330) 759-9066. For information on MS call (330) 759-9066.
