TRI-COUNTY LEAGUE E. Palestine stops Columbiana in OT



Lisbon beat Sebring 47-14.
EAST PALESTINE -- The East Palestine High football team stopped Columbiana on the 1-yard line on fourth-and-goal to beat the Clippers 20-14 in overtime Friday.
East Palestine running back J.D. Powers scored a 20-yard touchdown on the first play of overtime. Powers finished with 85 yards on 15 carries for East Palestine (3-1, 1-0 Tri-County League).
Quarterback Smitty Kendrew was 9-of-18 for 180 yards and two touchdowns, one each to Chris Clark and Joe Rettig.
Derek Garrod led Columbiana (2-2, 0-1) with 24 carries for 105 yards.
Lisbon 47, Sebring 14: LISBON -- Matt Adams dashed 65 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the game and Lisbon went on to turn back Sebring.
Adams carried three times for 92 yards and also caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Jay Yorty.
Jermaine Lewis of Lisbon (2-2, 1-0) scored on a 24-yard run and returned an intercepted pass 41 yards for another score. Adam Arter of Lisbon caught 19- and 30-yard touchdown passes from Yorty.
Josh Hines of Sebring (0-4, 0-1) scored on a 24-yard run in the third quarter.
Teammate Dustin Polson caught a 8-yard pass from Zach Orsborn in the fourth period.
Lisbon rushed for 255 yards on 25 attempts, and the Blue Devils were 5-of-6 passing for 109 yards.
United 13, Southern 0: HANOVERTON -- The United defense held Southern to just 133 yards and Jordan Phillips and Nick Johnson each scored as the Golden Eagles (4-0, 1-0) shut out the Indians.
United quarterback Mitch Phillis hit 7-of-16 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
Johnson had 12 carries for 46 yards and caught a pass for 35 yards.
Nick Schneider had 11 carries for 59 yards and four receptions for 32 yards.
Matt Puckett led Southern (1-3, 0-1) with 19 carries for 100 yards.
