Warren City Council approved $1.6 million in funding Wednesday for these projects as part of the 2002 federal Community Development Block Grant program.
Street resurfacing in low-income neighborhoods: $130,000.Matching money for Parkman Road reconstruction: $235,000.Riverwalk/Kinsman House planning and improvement: $60,000.Sidewalk repairs in low-income neighborhoods: $20,000.Downtown sidewalk repairs: $10,000.Fourth Street sidewalk repairs: $25,000.Housing programs: $30,000.Program administration: $308,000 for community development and a fair housing operating budget.Mahoningside cleanup: $391,512 for removal of blighted, vacant and fire-damaged structures.Local projects: $30,000 to use as a share alongside grants secured by the Community Development Department.Contingency: $10,000 for emergency funding or cost overruns.MLK railroad crossing: $2,500 for new signs, street paint and/or lighting at crossing on Martin Luther King Avenue.Target neighborhood parks: $50,000 will address needs of parks in low-income neighborhoods, including the purchase of new equipment.Matching money for railroad crossing reconstruction: $25,000.Christy House emergency shelter: $24,316.Summer food service program: $11,000 to provide free lunches to schoolchildren.SCOPE elderly home repair: $5,000.Community Services building: $5,000 for renovations to conference room.CATS: $38,316 for operation of bus service for low- to moderate-income residents.Co-Operide: $28,316 for transportation for elderly and handicapped people, through SCOPE Senior Center.Youth Golf Clinic: $6,316.Trumbull Mobile Meals: $6,316.Summerbridge: $43,316 for the youth recreation and enrichment program.Warren Little Raiders football team: $7,316.ACOP Technology Center: $11,316.Eye Deal Connection: $8,316 to assist the visually impaired.A House of Blessing: $8,316 for transitional housing for homeless women and children.The Potter's Wheel: $8,316 for women's training in life and job skills.Officer Phil: $8,316 for crime and drug prevention training for youths.Rebecca Williams Youth Enrichment: $41,196 to further youth participation in drama, drill team and karate activities.Fair Housing: $12,000.
