U Agreed to have their regular weekly meeting for 10:30 a.m. Sept. 26 at Liberty Township Administration Building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.U Announced that Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council has extended its deadline to Sept. 28 for eligible communities that want to enroll in an energy-buying consortium to save money. Commissioners say they're prepared, if necessary, to testify at hearings before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, on behalf of customers who aren't eligible to take part. Commissioner Micheal O'Brien is encouraging Warren to enroll because most county buildings are located there.U Adopted a resolution to proclaim Oct. 10 as SAVE Day in Trumbull County, or Stop America's Violence Everywhere. The SAVE project was developed by the American Medical Association Alliance, and communities across the country are supporting it.U Approved two agreements between Trumbull County Department of Job and Family Services and Trumbull County Family and Children First Council of Niles. The first agreement will provide service at a cost not to exceed $30,000 for children with multiple problems and their families, who must meet income guidelines. The second is being awarded to the council by a wellness block grant not to exceed $253,047, to help prevent and reduce out-of-wedlock pregnancies. Both agreements are retroactive to July 1 and run through June 2002.U Contributed $5,000 to ACTION, or the Alliance for Congressional Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods, which is studying socioeconomic disparity and regional growth in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties.U Entered into an agreement with MS Consultants of Youngstown for the county's annual bridge inspection program, for $349,565. More than 380 bridges will be inspected three times over a four-year period.
U Entered into an agreement with McCoy Associated Inc. of Girard to perform a highway safety engineering study at Salt Springs Road and Niles-Carver Road, for $23,477.U Approved drawing plans and specifications for Trumbull County Agriculture and Family Education Center, to be built in Cortland. Commissioners will advertise for bids for construction.U Appointed to the human services planning committee of the Department of Job and Family Services Douglas Burkhardt, superintendent of Trumbull County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. Commissioners also accepted resignations of these members: Elizabeth Ross, former superintendent, Trumbull County Educational Service Center; Lyle Bailey, representing the county's rural interests; and Roger Aiello, interim executive director of Trumbull County MR/DD.U Accepted the following resignations of members of the county's Workforce Policy Board: Larry Hollady, employment services manager for the former Warren office of the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services; J.J. Cafaro, representing the private sector; and Vicki Giovangnoli, assistant superintendent, Trumbull County Educational Service Center. Commissioners rescinded action taken at a prior meeting, appointing Kenneth Senter to the board. He declined the appointment. Commissioners also appointed to the board Anthony D'Ambrosio, superintendent of Trumbull County Educational Service Center.
