TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Former Boardman High basketball standout Celeste Hlebovy was honored as one of the Missouri Valley Conference's All-Freshman Team members in her first year of basketball at Indiana State.
Hlebovy finished third in scoring (8.7 ppg) and second in rebounding (4.3 rpg). The 6-foot forward led the Sycamores in 3-point field goal percentage (41) and was second in free throw accuracy (86.5).
Hlebovy led ISU in scoring four times during the season and at one point connected on 23 consecutive free throws attempts.
Little Spartansunbeaten at 3-0
BOARDMAN -- The Boardman Little Spartans 130-pound team remained unbeaten after three weeks by defeating the Struthers Little Wildcats 34-12. The game was played Sunday at Boardman Stadium. Scoring for the Little Spartans was Frank O'Casio, Noah Traylor, Nick Demarinis, Ryan Holmes and Brandon Whipple Beachum. Defensively, the Little Spartans were led by Brian Hull, Colby Clayton and Matt Snovak.
The 115-pound Little Spartans went to 1-2 by losing 6-0. The 95-pound team lost 12 -6, falling to 1-2 this season.

Swallow amongGeneva standouts
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Geneva College swept the Mid-States Football Association players of the week awards after its 77-14 victory over Olivet Nazarene.
Quarterback Ben Swallow, a West Branch High graduate, was the offensive player of the week. He completed 14-of-17 passes for 256 yards and four touchdowns.
Cornerback Mark Villella received the defensive award with four interceptions. He added three solo tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Thiel's Rowlandnamed by PAC
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel College freshman Matt Rowland, a Howland High graduate, was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference men's runner of the week.
Rowland captured the individual title at the Thiel College Invitational last weekend, finishing in 30 minutes, 13 seconds.
Boardman beatsPoland boys 4-2
BOARDMAN -- Boardman High took the lead in the fifth minute when Andrew Good scored, as the Spartans went on to defeat Poland 4-2 in a boys soccer game Monday.
Ryan Yosay took a centering pass from Ryan Ingram inside the Poland 18-yard line. Jamie Hay burst past the Poland defense to gather in a long lead pass and make the score 3-0 in the 64th minute. Less than a minute later, Poland broke into the scoring column when forward Colin Larouere headed a corner kick to teammate Josh Mummey, who kicked it through. Hay once again got free with an assist from Joe Campezi and scored in the 67th minute. Poland closed the scoring when midfielder Tom Rudnicki connected on a 35-yard left-footer.
No decision
BOSTON -- A decision on receiver Terry Glenn's effort to overturn his season-long suspension by the New England Patriots will come later in the week.
"We'll have to wait another day or two," Glenn's agent, James Gould, said after Tuesday's deadline passed.
In the wake of terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, the NFL Players Association offices in Washington were closed by mid-afternoon. NFL personnel were focusing on arranging for employees at their New York offices to get home safely, league spokesman Greg Aiello said.
Tuesday was the deadline, specified in the collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and its players, for arbitrator Richard Bloch to rule after he heard testimony during a 13-hour hearing at Foxboro Stadium last Thursday.
