Teens enter pleas to drug charges

CANFIELD -- One township teen pleaded innocent and another pleaded no contest today in mayor's court to drug charges stemming from their arrests last month.
Police said Douglas Suffolk, 18, of North Briarcliff Drive, was with Randen McKnight, 18, of Tippecanoe Road, and a 17-year-old Lisbon Street boy when all three were questioned by police around 1 a.m. Aug. 19 in a parking lot on West Main Street.
Police found rolling papers, a straw, three cans of beer, a silver scale and a silver mirror with suspected cocaine residue inside a nearby pickup truck.
Suffolk, who was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, was ordered to appear for a pretrial hearing Sept. 24 in mayor's court.
McKnight, who was charged with underage possession, was sentenced to a year of probation and a 10-day suspended sentence. He also was fined $250 and ordered to pay $35 in court costs.
Police also searched the Lisbon Street boy and found three cans of beer and a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana. He was charged with delinquency for underage possession of alcohol and delinquency for possession of a controlled substance. His case was transferred to juvenile court.
