YOUNGSTOWN -- A honeymoon in Australia followed the Aug. 4 wedding of W. Jason Simons, 3707 Castle Court, and his bride, the former Catherine J. Mandl, 7670 Winterberry Drive, Boardman, who were married at 2:30 p.m. at St. Columba Cathedral.
Monsignor Lawrence Fye officiated for the daughter of MaryAnn and Jim Cooney of the Winterberry Drive address and Richard Mandl, 2311 Big Rock Road, Pittsburgh, and the son of William and Cynthia Simons, 1424 Turnberry Drive, Boardman. The couple were honored at a reception at the Holiday Inn South, Boardman.
Mrs. Simons earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at Kent State University and is employed in Boardman. Mr. Simons, the fitness director at the YMCA in Bedford, also is a Youngstown firefighter. He graduated with a degree in exercise science from Mount Union College, Alliance.
They live at the groom's address.
The bride's white A-line gown was styled with a square neckline and chapel-length train.
Deborah Mandl, the bride's twin sister, was honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Mary, Beth and Susan Mandl, her sisters, and Allison Simons and Kimberly Filipowicz, the groom's sisters. They wore ice-colored dresses. Carly Shutrump, his cousin, was flower girl.
Paul Filipowicz, the groom's brother-in-law, performed the duties of best man. Groomsmen were Charles Shutrump, his uncle; Chase Simons, his cousin; Jason Frommelt; John Calo; and Chad Vodhanel.
