PORTERSVILLE, Pa. -- Moraine State Park programs for September will keep people biking and hiking. There will be an in-depth look at the park's history from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sunken Garden trail. A bike hike is planned from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the North Shore bicycle rental building. There will be a guided tour, covering geological history of the area and the habitat created. A tree identification program is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wyggeston Trailhead.
Other programs include one about animals at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Sunken Garden Trailhead and another on hawks at noon Sept. 19 at McDanel's launch area. Dragonflies and damselflies will be the topic of a talk at noon Sept. 20 at McDanel's launch. For details or directions, call Crystal Null at (724) 368-8811.
Children's programs
EAST PALESTINE -- Weekly children's programs at East Palestine Memorial Public Library begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday with preschool storytime for children 3 to 6. The preschool program continues Tuesdays through Nov. 20.
Toddlertime for children 2 to 3 begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday and continue Thursdays through Nov. 15. Registration is required and toddlers must be accompanied by an adult.
Stories and More for children 6 to 10 begin at 4:15 p.m. Thursday and continue Thursdays through Nov. 15. Registration is necessary.
A program for young adults 11 to 16 will be 4 p.m. Sept. 19th and monthly the third Wednesday of each month. Registration is required.

Story quilts display
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Tina Williams Brewer, who has a national reputation as a creator of story quilts, will display her work at the Westminster College art gallery through Sept. 22. The gallery is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Brewer's work focuses on an exploration of black history and the personal experiences that tie her to it. A slide lecture on black quilts is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday in Patterson Hall, Room 311.
Art fund-raiser
POLAND -- Holy Family Parish Garden Club is sponsoring Art in the Garden from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 to raise funds for the gardens at Emmaus House on 2785 Center Road. Local artists will be featured, and homemade pies, herbal teas and items from the garden will be available.
