Reception held in Boardman park to honor Allens' golden anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Dan L. Allen, 3303 Lenox Ave., were guests of honor during a reception Sept. 8 at Beard Cabin in Boardman Township Park for the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Invitations for the event were issued by the couple's daughters, Shirley Bramer of Boardman and Cathy Millerleile of Youngstown, and their son, Richard Allen of Struthers. The family also includes a daughter, Thelma Rist of Hanoverton; a son, Dan Allen II of Boardman; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The former Frances L. Jessie and Mr. Allen exchanged marriage vows Sept. 9, 1951, at the Chapel of Friendly Bells. They are members of Fairview Immanuel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Allen is a homemaker.
Retiring in 1980, Mr. Allen was a truck driver with Werner Continental. He is a member of Masonic Lodge 615 and a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite. He served in U.S. Army during World War II and in Korea.
