Pringles observe golden jubilee at reception
MINERAL RIDGE -- The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Pringle of Mineral Ridge was celebrated Aug. 11 during an afternoon reception at Pleasant Valley Church in Niles.
Hosts for the event were the couple's daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Craig Tarleton, also of Mineral Ridge. Their family also includes a son, Jeffrey Pringle of Girard; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. One grandson is deceased.
Mr. Pringle and the former Carolyn Weber were married Aug. 4, 1951, at Christ Episcopal Church in Warren during his first leave home from the U.S. Army while serving in the Korean War as a sergeant.
He retired after 27 years as treasurer of the Stambaugh-Thompson Co. in Youngstown and is director emeritus for the Esteco Co. in Columbiana. He graduated from Youngstown State University and is a retired member of the National Association of Accountants and Administrative Management Society. He was active in youth baseball for 34 years, served as head softball coach at Mineral Ridge and Niles McKinley high schools, is an assistant coach for the Mineral Ridge High School girls' softball team, served as director of the Ohio Girls' Softball Organization and was a member of the Ohio High School Fast Pitch Softball Coaches Association. He served on the Weathersfield Local Board of Education during the 1970s and again during the 1990s, when he also served as its president.
Mrs. Pringle is a homemaker and was a volunteer for 10 years for the American Cancer Society as chairwoman for Weathersfield Township. She also served as directress of the St. Luke Altar Guild in Niles and as a softball scorekeeper during her husband's coaching career. She was an officer for the Weathersfield Home and School Association and was active in various school and community organizations.
The Pringles are members of Pleasant Valley Church.
