PREP SOCCER Fitch's Castillo has 100th win in sight
Hubbard girls beat Poland 3-1 to hand the Bulldogs their first loss.
AUSTINTOWN -- Sammy Camens scored a pair of goals as Austintown Fitch rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat Massillon Jackson 3-1 Saturday and present Coach Rigo Castillo with his 99th win.
Castillo, in his ninth season, will shoot for his 100th victory Tuesday at home to Cardinal Mooney at 5:30 p.m.
Gus Martinez scored Fitch's first goal at 20:00 of the second half to tie the game at 1-1, before Camens put the Falcons ahead at 7:55, and then added his second score with 35 seconds left.
Jackson led 1-0 on Jake Kinsley's goal.
Fitch (4-1) goalie Brett Gleydura had 11 saves.
Jackson goalie Okello Oluya produced 16 saves.
Howland 6, JFK 3: WARREN -- Sam Mann, Lucas Martorana, Chris O'Connor, David O'Connor, Amit Kovoor and Jason Stan each had a goal as Howland defeated Warren JFK, 6-3.
John DeCristofaro, Shawn Bean and Sal Coppola each scored for JFK (2-3).
The Tigers (2-2-2) led 3-0 at the break. John Airhart had 12 saves in goal for Howland.
Badger 3, Warren Harding 0: KINSMAN -- Nathan Raught had all three goals to lead Badger (2-0-1), while Eric Klingemier, Chris Arnold and Tim Smith each contributed an assist. Goalie Josh Upshire had 10 saves.
Goalkeeper Anthony Nuzzi had five saves for Harding (2-2).
Crestview 6, Mathews 3: COLUMBIANA -- Crestview (4-2) scored all its goals in the first half to prevail. Ken Wagenhouse scored four times, while Chris Cook and Jamiel Radman each scored once.
Dan Hawkins, James Cook and Chris Cook had an assist apiece.
Steve Graora, Collins Brown and Nathan Heflick each scored a goal for Mathews (4-2). Tyler Stanton had an assist.
Norton 2, Ursuline 1: NORTON -- Nick Royer scored on a penality kick with 23 minutes left in the game for the Irish (3-1-1).
Norton (3-1-2) led 2-0 before Royer scored.
Ryan Coffey saved 10 shots in goal for the Irish.
Canfield 5, West Branch 1: CANFIELD -- Matt Pietro scored two goals for the Cardinals (1-2-1).
Zach Beycak, Julian Donofrio and Mark Pakula added one apiece. Pietro, Beycak and Donofrio each had an assist. Goalkeeper Mark Kime had eight saves.
Cory Criss scored the goal for West Branch.
Girls: BOARDMAN -- Pamela Prystash and Janeen Masternick scored two goals apiece as the Boardman High girls soccer team downed Lake 4-2 at Boardman High stadium.
Maggie Mills had two assists while Tiffany Carlson and Brittany Sirak each had one.
Goalkeeper Lauren Callahan had seven saves.
Megan Crum scored two goals for the Blue Streaks.
Goalkeeper Kathy Stuck had eight saves.
Fitch 4, GlenOak 0: AUSTINTOWN -- Kristy Croysdale, Shannon Crowley, Danielle Storey, Michelene Pancoe each scored a goal for the Falcons, 2-2.
Jessica Sprowl and Kelly Croysdale each had an assist for Fitch which has won two in a row.
GlenOak is 1-4.
Hubbard 1, Poland 0: HUBBARD -- Jamie Duvall scored from in close on an assist from Anna Dejulio with about 15 minutes remaining in the game for the Eagles, 3-1-1.
Hubbard has won three in a row. Poland is 3-1-0.
Lynle Cornell saved 10 shots in goal for Hubbard and Poland's Landry Yankle had seven saves.
Lakeview 2, Canfield 1: CORTLAND -- Julia Wilcox scored the only goal for the Cardinals on a penalty kick.
Canfield (1-3) goalkeeper Noelle Zalac had four saves.
Lakeview evened its season record at 1-1-1.
Girard 6, Newton Falls 3: NEWTON FALLS -- Jenny Sopkovich scored four goals to spark the Indians (3-2, 3-0 TAC).
April Courtney and Morgan Tondo each scored one. Rachel Cubellis and Courtney had an assist.
Goalkeeper Angela Dipiero had 18 saves.
Heather Martin, Marcy Brazin and Kelly Drake each scored a goal for the Tigers.
Desiree Sterling had two assists and Martin had one.
Goalkeeper Rachel Brazin made 18 saves.
