LAWRENCE COUNTY Annual country tour

Farms, a century-old church and a Girl Scout camp are all part of this year's Lawrence County country tour Sept. 22 and 23. The drive-it-yourself event will take place both days from 1 to 6 p.m. The tour stops are:
Forbes Buffalo Acres, at the corner of Pa. routes 388 and 108, will feature a tour of the buffalo farm and retail meat shop. The bisons, first brought to the ranch by owners Hugh and Joan Forbes in 1975, will also be viewed. This summer's herd consists of 40 bisons, including 13 calves and one herd bull. Buffalo sandwiches and buffalo chili will be sold both days.Ro-Jo Stock Farm on Pa. Route 388 has 70 head of sheep and four Black Angus beef cattle. Vegetables and other produce will be for sale on the farm and Mary Rita Ford will demonstrate the art of spinning. The farm is owned by Robert and Debby Burry.McConnell's Dairy Farm, owned by Arnold and Jane McKnight McConnell, along with their son Bruce, has nearly 70 head of Holstein calves and cows. The farm's 38 cows produce 600 gallons of milk every other day. Members of the Beaver-Lawrence Dairy Promotion Committee will promote dairy products at the farm which is off Pa. Route 168.East Brook Presbyterian Church, between New Castle and Volant on Pa. Route 388, has large stained-glass windows and chimes that ring every day at noon and 3 p.m.Girl Scout Camp Elliott will feature a display of artifacts from an archeological dig on the grounds. The camp kitchen will be open as well as the camp trading post.
