Dinner dance fetes McAndrews' for golden jubilee
AUSTINTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. John T. McAndrew, 140 S. Roanoke Ave., were honored Sept. 1 at a buffet dinner and dance at the Serbian Hall in Youngstown in observance of their golden wedding anniversary.
Arrangements for the celebration were made by the couple's children and their spouses, John and Judy McAndrew, Karen and Brian Biggs, Linda and John Droege, Bill and Ida McAndrew, all of Austintown, and Tony and Cathy McAndrew of Fullerton, Calif. Four grandchildren complete their family.
The former Elizabeth Angelo became the bride of Mr. McAndrew Sept. 15, 1951, at Sacred Heart Church in Youngstown. He retired in 1995 from General Motors Corp. in Lordstown, where he was a coordinator. He also is volunteer equipment manager with the Austintown Fitch football team and is a member of Immaculate Hearty of Mary Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
His wife works part time in the cash office at the Youngstown State University book store. She serves as president of the Thursday Trio Bowling League and as treasurer of the Meander-A-Longs Golf League.
