CLEVELAND -- The Austintown Fitch volleyball team suffered three setbacks in a tournament Saturday to fall to 2-3 on the season.
St. Joseph Academy 16-11-17, Fitch 14-15-15: Maggie Case had 11 points, 13 kills, six digs, three blocks and two aces while Jessica DiCarlo had 10 points, seven kills, 10 digs and three blocks for Fitch.
Katie McDermott added eight points, four kills, two digs and seven blocks while Ashlee Lemke had seven points, eight kills, six digs and two blocks for Fitch. St. Joseph is 4-0.
Seton 15-10-15, Fitch 11-15-6: Case had nine points,10 kills, eight digs and two aces while Lemke had five points, nine kills, five digs and a block for Fitch. Seton is 2-3.
Northview 15-15, Fitch 5-12: Lemke collected five points, a kill, a block, three digs and two aces while McDermott had five points, four kills, a block, two digs and an ace for Fitch. Northview is 5-2.
Boardman 15-15, West Branch 9-1: Boardman 15-15, Poland 5-3: BOARDMAN -- Boardman improved its record to 7-0 with the victories over West Branch and Poland.
Leading the Spartans against West Branch were Chelsea Hutch (seven points), Mara Caparuolo (seven kills, seven blocks, six points) and junior Jen Feret (six kills).
For West Branch, Amanda Benner had six kills and Amber Metzgar had four kills and three assists.
In the Spartans' victory over Poland, junior Jen Hlebovy had four points and 11 kills, while Capraruolo had nine points and six kills and Whitney Tressel 31 assists.
For Poland, Erin Mulligan had nine assists, and Raeanne Coppola had five kills and three blocks.
West Branch 15-10-15, Poland 9-15-9: BOARDMAN -- West Branch (3-5) got 14 assists from Ashley Armstrong, six kills from Metzgar and 10 service points from Jen Hayes.
For Poland (0-4), Steffi Graf had 10 kills, while Kristen Stanyard had 16 assists and Mulligan eight points.
Girard 15-15, Canfield 3-12: GIRARD -- Erin Stevens and Brittany Kay each had six points while Tealle Hunkus had 17 kills for the Indians.
Stephanie Scarnecchia had nine kills for Girard while Stevens had 24 assists.
Senior Vanessa Schutz had five points and six kills for the Cardinals.
Canfield 15-15, Harding 12-8: GIRARD -- Senior Stephanie Bellish and junior Amanda Williams each had eight points with Williams recording six aces for the Cardinals.
Sharina Freeman had seven points and four kills with two aces for Harding.
Springfield 15-15, Harding 6-0: GIRARD -- Meghan Louttit had 13 kills and 20 assists for the Tigers. Brooke Tabaka had seven points serving with five aces for the Tigers.
Springfield 11-15-15, Girard 15-11-5: GIRARD -- Brooke Tabaka had 14 points with eight kills and Meghan Wood collected 10 points with three aces for the Tigers. Maggie Marsh had 12 kills for the Tigers.
Hunkus had a school-record 28 kills and Erin Stevens had a school-record 33 assists in the match for the Indians, 5-3.
Girard 15-15, Harding 1-11: GIRARD -- Lora Cramer had three aces while Janeen Delgenio had three digs for the Indians. Beth Hanna also had three digs for Girard. Sharina Freeman led Harding with four kills.
Salem 1615, Southeast 14-13: SALEM -- Lauren Teal had two aces, five kills, two tips and five blocks while Kelli Crouse added an ace and eight kills for the Quakers, 3-2.
The Pirates are 6-2.
