ROUNDUP Fitch, Boardman cruise to SVC triumphs



Both teams remained undefeated with wins over Ursuline and Mooney, respectively.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Ashlee Lemke scored six points, with three aces and a kill, as Austintown Fitch High defeated Ursuline 15-0, 15-1 in a Steel Valley Conference volleyball match Thursday.
For the Falcons (2-0, 1-0 SVC), Maggie Case scored 14 points, eight kills, four aces.
Rachel Evans led the Irish (2-5) with five digs.
Boardman 15-15, Mooney 3-3: YOUNGSTOWN -- Lauren Craig came up with six kills and two blocks and Whitney Tressel had 10 points and 18 assists for the Spartans, 5-0, 1-0. For the Cardinals (1-4, 0-1) Jenna Polkovitch had three points with an ace and Andrea Fryda had nine digs.
Lakeview 15-15, Liberty 3-6: CORTLAND -- Jessica Yovich scored 11 points, with four digs for the Bulldogs (2-1, 2-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference). Megan Taylor had seven assists and six aces. Whitney Keyser had five kills. Ashley Caffey led the Leopards (0-5, 0-5) with eight assists.
Hubbard 15-15, Badger 1-1: KINSMAN -- Katy Jo Mroski had 12 kills, five blocks and five digs while Amy Falhamer collected seven kills and seven points for the Eagles (4-0, 4-0 TAC). Amanda Lingenfelter also had eight points and eight digs. The Braves are 0-4, 0-4.
Brookfield 15-15, Girard 13-6: BROOKFIELD -- Juli Alter 10, with five kills for the Warriors (4-2, 4-0 TAC). Kayla Haun had nine points, eight digs. Karey Gibson had nine assists and Regina Deramo had 10 digs. Erin Stevens led the Indians (4-2, 3-1) with seven points and she set a school record with 24 assists. Tealle Hunkus had 18 kills, which also set a school record and she had eight digs.
Newton Falls 6-15-15, LaBrae 15-5-13: LEAVITTSBURG -- Allison Huber scored 10 points. Jessica Garretson added eight points. Ashley Shaver and Garretson each had nine assists. Ashley Alexander led the Vikings (3-2) with 10 points. Amanda Gordon had 15 kills and Amber Dietelbach had 23 assists.
Mineral Ridge 15-15, Jackson-Milton 12-11: NORTH JACKSON -- Tiffany Hack had 10 points, three aces and 18 kills while Jenna Hinks had seven points for the Rams (6-0, 3-0 Inter-County League). Jessica Hemphill had two points, five kills and three blocks while Desra Tomaino had four points, five kills, five blocks and four digs for the Bluejays.
South Range 15-15, Lowellville 3-4: NORTH LIMA -- Becky Skowran scored 13 points, with three aces and seven assists to pace the Raiders (5-1, 3-1 ICL). Tracey Toy had six points, two aces and five kills. Anna Waldele had two points, once ace and seven assists.
Niles 15-15, Chaney 9-10: NILES -- Danelle Durig had nine points while Amelia Bradley had five kills, four digs and six blocks for Niles (3-2). Jeana Loto had six points and four assists and Lindsay Simstad had seven kills and four blocks for the Cowboys (1-4).
Maplewood 15-15, Lordstown 6-5: LORDSTOWN -- Joni Shelton had three aces and 12 points, Lauren Partridge tacked on two aces and four points while Toni Darocha had 16 assists for the Rockets (3-0, 3-0 East Suburban Conference). Jen Indorf had 12 attacks, two kills and three blocks while Janelle Beaver had five blocks and two points for Lordstown (1-2, 1-2).
Bristol 15-15, Lutheran East 0-1: BRISTOLVILLE -- Ashley Rasmussen set two school records for the Panthers (3-1, 3-1 ESC) serving a perfect 15-0 game, with 11 aces. She finished with 22 points and 13 aces. Michelle Lenney added five points and three aces.
Canton South 15-15, West Branch 8-14: CANTON -- Ashley Armstrong scored seven points, with five kills, three assists and 14 passes for the Warriors (2-4). Amber Metzgar had five points, three kills, five assists and 11 passes.
