Poland man chargedwith child enticement
WEATHERSFIELD -- A 26-year-old man was charged in Niles Municipal Court this morning with criminal child enticement and drug abuse.
Weathersfield police Capt. Joe Consiglio said two boys, both 8, who live in Suburban Mobile Home Park, were looking for frogs in woods near the trailer park about 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to police, Randall Bryant of Oak Drive, Poland, came into the woods and told the boys he'd take them to a pet shop and get them a frog.
One boy went with the man to a pet shop and then to a Dairy Mart, Consiglio said.
About an hour later, Niles police spotted a car that matched the description of the one driven by the suspect, and stopped it at Belle Terre Avenue and Pheasant Street.
Niles police filed the drug charge after finding marijuana on Bryant when he was arrested. Weathersfield police filed the child enticement charge.
The boy was returned to his family unhurt, Consiglio said.
