Campbell officials seek grocery store

CAMPBELL -- With winter on the horizon, city officials are getting antsy for someone to buy the former Campbell Super Duper and bring a grocery store back to the city.
Mayor John Dill said he doesn't want the building, which has been vacant since 1998, to sit empty through another winter because of the wear and tear it would experience.
The city took the building, located on Robinson Road, into its land bank last month after it failed to be sold during three Mahoning County sheriff's auctions.
Dill said a deal can be worked out with a potential buyer, but he would like a five-year commitment to the city.
"We can almost give the building to somebody," he said.
Since the Super Duper shut its doors in 1998, the city has gained 71 new homes and about 53 two-bedroom apartments, Dill said.
Dill said he's spoken to some potential buyers but would like to see more interest in the building.
