JOHNSTON Men hold burglary suspect at gunpoint

JOHNSTON -- A Johnston Township homeowner got more than a sandwich when he went home for lunch.
The Trumbull County Sheriff's Department said the man stopped at his home in the 5500 block of Youngstown-Kingsville Road around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and found a car in his driveway.
He went to the car to ask the driver why he was there, and the man drove off, deputies said.
The man followed the car and wrote down a description of it. When he returned home, there was another man standing in his yard.
When the homeowner went to talk to him, the man fled on foot, deputies reported.
Burglary: The homeowner soon realized that his shed had been burglarized and he called authorities.
"The victim figured that the one man would eventually have to come out of the woods so he waited," said Detective Sgt. Pete Pizzulo.
Sure enough, when the second man emerged, the homeowner and his father, who lives nearby, held him at gunpoint until authorities arrived.

"We had a good description of the car, and our detectives did a good job of tracking down the suspects," said Ernie Cook, chief of operations at the sheriff's department.
The suspects, a 24-year-old Youngstown man and a 22-year-old Niles man, are being held in the county jail for arraignment this week on felony charges of breaking and entering and theft.
