Prosecutor asks to send rape case to adult court
YOUNGSTOWN -- An assistant Mahoning County prosecutor assigned to juvenile court has filed a motion to relinquish jurisdiction of the case against 16-year-old Brandon Moore and transfer it to Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, where he would be considered an adult by a grand jury.
Moore, of Magnolia Avenue, has been charged with kidnapping, aggravated robbery and rape, all with a gun specification. The charges stem from the Aug. 21 rape of a 21-year-old Boardman woman.
Moore also faces two counts of aggravated robbery with a gun specification unrelated to the rape.
Anissa Jones, the assistant prosecutor, said she will ask that charges against another suspect, Chaz Bunch, 16, of Willis Avenue, also be transferred to the adult court. Reports indicate that Bunch was taken into custody Aug. 27 on a pickup order that showed charges of kidnapping, rape and aggravated robbery.
Juvenile Court Judge Theresa Dellick will have a hearing to consider the state's request to have the boys bound over as adults. Two men were indicted last week on charges related to the rape.
