2001 tax rebate
Information about tax rebates Americans should receive by the end of September.
The Treasury Department is sending 92 million tax rebates worth $38 billion as part of a $1.35 trillion, 10-year tax-relief package signed into law by President Bush in June.
Anyone who pays taxes may be eligible for a rebate. Singles are receiving up to $300; single parents, up to $500; couples, up to $600.
The check is not a rebate of taxes already paid. It is an advance on the refund you'll get when you file next April.
