Swim-Along fund-raiser
CANFIELD -- The 2001 youth Swim-Along for the Mahoning Valley American Cancer Society raised nearly $15,500, an increase of about $1,500 over the 2000 event.
More than 1,000 swimmers participated. The group raising the most money, $3,778, was the Poland Swim Club. Alexandria Scianna of Tippecanoe Country Club in Canfield was the top individual fund-raiser with $1,020.
Classic Car Show
YOUNGSTOWN -- Meridian Arms Living Center's eighth annual Benefit Classic Car Show will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at the center at 650 S. Meridian Road.
All makes and models of classic cars are welcome. The Mahoning Valley Mustang Club will be the featured club. There will also be 1950s music, a craft sale/flea market and bake sale, and food will be available. All proceeds benefit the Meridian Arms' resident entertainment fund.
