REMEMBERING A PRESIDENT

President William McKinley was shot Sept. 6, 1901, in Buffalo and died eight days later. To commemorate the 100th anniversary, the McKinley Memorial Library plans several events:
Thursday: Daniel Coleman, author of "The Anarchist," will speak at 6:30 p.m. at the library. The book is a fictional account of the imprisonment and execution of Leon Czolgosz, the man convicted of killing McKinley. Signed copies of the work also will be for sale.
Sept. 12: James Cash, Ohio author of "Unsung Heroes," will talk about President McKinley at 6:30 p.m. The program also is sponsored by the Ohio Humanities Council.
Sept. 14: The Rev. Mr. Barry French of First United Methodist Church, Niles, where McKinley attended, will offer a prayer. The 29th Ohio Volunteer Company H will perform a 21-gun salute honoring the president. Events start at 12:30 p.m.
