Grapevine 50th celebrated with dinner and trip



LOWELLVILLE -- Mr. and Mrs. John Grapevine, 459 Queisner Ave., will observe their 50th wedding anniversary during a family dinner Sept. 30 at the Timberlanes in Salem. The couple also will celebrate the occasion on an autumn trip to Las Vegas.
Hosts and hostesses for the dinner will be the honorees' children and spouses, Valerie and John Heban of North Canton, John Jr. and Nancy Grapevine of Lowellville and Randall Grapevine of Lowellville.
The former Sally Simkins and Mr. Grapevine were married Sept. 17, 1951, at the Chapel of Friendly Bells in Youngstown.
Mrs. Grapevine retired in 1995 after 22 years' employment in sales at King's Jewelry in the Southern Park Mall, Boardman.
A maintenance supervisor with Ohio Edison Co., Mr. Grapevine retired in 1988 after 35 years of service. He is active in the Masons with Sulgrave Lodge 696, having served as worshipful master in 1971. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army's 24th Division with tours of duty in the Philippines and Japan.
The couple are members of Lowellville Presbyterian Church. Their family circle includes six grandchildren.
