GETTING THERE: The village of Mumford is 20 miles southwest of Rochester and 65 miles east of Buffalo, a few miles off the New York Thruway. Take Thruway Exit 47 if traveling from the west and Exit 46 if coming from the east.
Major airlines fly into Rochester and the nearby cities of Buffalo, Syracuse and Corning. Rochester is served by US Airways, Continental, American, Delta, United, Northwest and Jet Blue.
HOURS: The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from Mother's Day weekend in May until Oct. 21. It reopens Fridays and weekends from Nov. 30 to Dec. 16 for Yuletide in the Country, a reservations-only event. Museum hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. through Labor Day, with doors then closing an hour earlier on non-holiday weekdays through Oct. 21.

WEATHER: Average temperatures are in the low 60s in late May and in October, the low 80s in July, but they sometimes soar into the 90s in midsummer.
