DISTRICT Jackson runs wild against Fitch, 32-7

The Falcons dropped their second straight game because they couldn't stop the Polar Bears.
MASSILLON -- The Massillon Jackson High football team changed its offensive tactics in its second game of the season and the Fitch Falcons weren't ready for the change.
A week ago, in its opening loss to Cuyahoga Falls, Jackson threw the football 57 times, but Friday night the Polar Bears turned to a rushing offense and mowed down the Falcons 32-7 at Robert Fife Stadium.
Jackson rushed for 287 yards against the Falcons. Leading the way for the Polar Bears were quarterback Russ Close and tailback Jay Rohr, who combined for 254 of those yards and all five touchdowns.
Rohr finished with 127 yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns, while Close added another 127 yards and two scores. Close also was 3-of-5 passing for 80 yards, including a 69-yarder to Justin Campbell that set up their first touchdown.
Fitch (0-2) has lost three straight seasons to the Polar Bears. The Falcons could get nothing going and finished the game with just 109 total yards, 70 on the ground.
The Falcons lost starting quarterback Steve Burnich late in the second period with a concussion and did not return. He scored Fitch's only touchdown on a 5-yard run in that period.
His replacement, Jason Aikens, was just 2-of-5 for 18 yards and an interception.
Fitch's rushers were led by Ray Betts with 46 yards on 11 carries. Junior defensive back Davanzo Tate had an interception in the end zone that stopped a Jackson drive in the first period.
West Branch 27, Rayen 8: BELOIT -- Drew Romigh caught two touchdown passes from Josh Scott to lead West Branch to victory over Rayen.
Romigh had five catches for 92 yards, including first-half scoring receptions of 44 and 12 yards.
Tom Hinton and Scott each added 1-yard touchdown runs in the second and fourth quarters, respectively, for the Warriors (1-1). Hinton finished with 159 yards on 32 carries.
Scott completed 5-of-11 passes for 92 yards, with the two touchdowns and one interception.
Rayen (0-2) got its only points on Ron Lampkin's 5-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Lampkin passed to Jerome Betts for the two-point conversion.
Lampkin was 16-of-37 for 156 yards and two interceptions, with receiver C.J. Ladson leading the way with three catches for 37 yards.
Lampkin also carried 12 times for 34 yards.
