Rapist given prison term



MERCER, Pa. -- A judge sentenced a man who brutally raped a disabled woman to a 10- to 20-year prison term.
Judge Francis Fornelli of Mercer County Common Pleas Court sentenced Claude Whiteside III, 22, formerly of Greenville, for the rape last December of a 56-year-old mentally retarded Perry Township woman who also is physically disabled.
The woman, who Whiteside attacked in her home, required emergency medical treatment.
He pleaded guilty in July to rape, a first-degree felony. Additional charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated assault and simple assault were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
The judge ordered Whiteside to serve the term consecutively with another term on an unrelated offense. He also gave him credit for 299 days served in Mercer County Jail.
Another case: Judge Fornelli also sentenced Jenny Ritenour, 24, of West Kidds Mill Road, Apt. 38, Transfer, on a misdemeanor charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
She was placed on a year's probation, fined $500 and ordered to do 100 hours of community service.
She bought 151-proof rum for a 15-year-old, who got drunk, then went to Greenville High School.
