Crestwood scouting report: This the second postseason appearance for the Red Devils, who, in their first playoff showing in 1999, lost their first game to a Justin Zwick-led Orrville team. The Wing-T offense features a four-back attack. It is led by QB Jarrod Kohl (6-10, 220 Sr.). FB Chad Toaso (5-11, 185 Sr.) has started the last four games in place of injured FB Tim Bilsza. WB/HBs are John Kmetz (5-11, 185 Sr.) and Todd Stewart (5-10, 175 Sr.). Kohl has rushed 46 times for 331 yards and three TDs. He's completed 23 of 60 aerials for 242 yards and one TD. The 6-foot-10 Kohl has eight interceptions. Toaso has 281 yards and four TDs on 63 attempts. Kmetz has 438 yards and 6 TDs on 84 attempts, while Stewart has rushed 71 times for 250 yards and three touchdowns. Bilsza (6-2, 220 Jr.) was the regular FB who suffered an ACL injury in the Garrettsville game. Until that time, Bilsza had 600 yards and five TDs in six games. As the mike linebacker in a 4-3 defense, Bilsza had 41 tackles. Crestwood's leading tackler is nose guard Drew Racin (5-9, 160 Sr.) with 97 tackles. Toaso has 95 as the Will linebacker and SS Kyle Pozek (5-10, 165 Sr.) has 86 tackles. In Bilsza's position, sophomore Ken Mills has two interceptions, as does Kmetz as the Sam linebacker. The Red Devils started 2-2 then won six straight. Both of Crestwood's losses were to playoff teams -- West Geauga and Mogadore. Coach Tom Hannan is 56-29 in eight seasons at Crestwood and 82-69 in 15 years.
Scouting report: This is Hubbard's third straight playoff appearance. In 1999, the Eagles' initial appearance ended in an immediate loss to Perry to end 9-2. In 2000, Hubbard made its deepest dent by reaching the Division III regional final before losing to Copley, 17-8, to finish 9-3. The Eagles have out-scored opponents, 325-93. Anthony Smith remains the team's No. 1 ground gainer with 1,658 yards on 188 attempts. The tailback has scored 23 touchdowns. Fullback Jerad Jordan has 442 yards on 91 attempts with two TDs, while fullback alternate Antonio Owens has 368 yards on 59 attempts. Matt Clark is the top tackler with 70 total hits, followed by Mike Flaugher with 62, Lidel Hilson with 59, Donnie Smith with 57 and John Dominic with 52. As a team, the Eagles' offense has produced 3,104 yards (310.4 ypg.) while its defense has allowed 1,794 (179.4 ypg.).
