Lindy Paving gets Hermitage contract
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The company that got the contract to do the first phase of the project to widen state Route 18 North in the city will do the second phase as well.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today that Lindy Paving of New Castle is the apparent low bidder on the second phase of the work from U.S. Route 62 to just north of Highland Road. The cost will be $6,514,110, and work will begin in April.
Traffic will be maintained during the construction, which will widen a 1.3-mile stretch of Route 18 from two to five lanes.
Lindy also got the job to do the first 2.6-mile phase of the work from just north of Highland Road to the four-lane section of Route 18 at the northern edge of the city. The company is being paid $6,722,598 for that work, which began in early October.
