Cavs involved inthree-team trade
MIAMI -- The Miami Heat, looking to bolster their frontcourt depth, acquired Chris Gatling on Friday in a three-team deal involving Cleveland and Toronto.
In the sign-and-trade deal, the Cavaliers got swingman Ricky Davis from Miami and forward Brian Skinner from Toronto. The Raptors received forward Don MacLean and an undisclosed amount of cash from Miami.
But the Heat may have gained the most from the deal, getting Gatling for the third time in five years. He will provide much-needed depth behind center Alonzo Mourning, who is still learning to play with a kidney disease, and forward Brian Grant.
Davis and Skinner should boost Cleveland's depleted frontcourt, where forward Tyrone Hill (back spasms) and center Zydrunas Ilgauskas (foot) are on the injured list.
Trapp fined forhit on Northcutt
BALTIMORE -- The NFL fined Baltimore Ravens defensive back James Trapp $12,500 for a hit against Cleveland Browns punt returner Dennis Northcutt during Sunday's game, a Ravens spokesman said Friday.
The helmet-to-helmet blow left Northcutt unconscious, but did not draw a penalty flag. Trapp had a clear shot at Northcutt since he did not indicate a fair catch.
NFL spokesman Dan Masonson said Friday that "there doesn't have to be a flag thrown for a player to be fined for something."

Four U.S. cities inrunning for Games
SALT LAKE CITY -- Will it be the Big Apple or the Golden Gate? The nation's capital or Texas bluebonnet country? One of four American cities will carry the U.S. Olympic Committee's banner for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
New York, Houston, San Francisco and Washington made the cut Friday as the U.S. Committee narrowed down the list of American cities competing to stage the games. Dallas, Los Angeles, Cincinnati and Tampa, Fla., were dropped.
The USOC will choose an American candidate from the four finalists in November 2002. The International Olympic Committee will vote on the host city in 2005.
