Ursuline rally falls short in 28-26 loss
UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- Ursuline kicker Jon Ameen had a 22-yard field goal attempt partially blocked with 33 seconds remaining as the Irish finished their frustrating season with a 28-26 loss to Uniontown, Pa.
Uniontown (9-0) opened up a 14-0 first half lead as quarterback Carl Farrell hit Dierre Jenkins on touchdown passes of 8 and 10 yards.
The Irish struck back with 14 points in the third quarter as Terrence Graves scored from 15 and 2 yards out to tie the score. Graves finished with 23 carries for 168 yards and Delbert Ferguson added 21 carries for 180 yards for the Irish (3-7).
Farrell scored on a 1-yard keeper on the second play of the fourth quarter to make it 21-14, but Ursuline's Isaiah Poindexter returned the ensuing kickoff back to the Uniontown 33 and Ferguson scored on a 33-yard reverse to make it 21-20. Ameen missed the extra point.
Farrell then hit Jenkins on a 58-yard touchdown to put Uniontown up 28-20, but the Irish drove 66 yards on the ensuing possession, capped by an 11-yard pass from Daryll Clark to Jimmy Riley. Clark's two-point attempt was picked off in the end zone. Clark was sacked four times.
Farrell finished 8-of-12 for 189 yards and three touchdowns. Jenkins had five catches for 125 yards and three touchdowns.
Beaver Local 21, Edison 0: LISBON -- Sophomore Jake Robinson rushed for 153 yards on 24 carries and scored touchdowns on runs of 9 and 69 yards as Beaver Local upended Edison.
The Beavers (6-4) ended the campaign with 293 yards on 53 attempts and they completed 2-of-5 passes for 20 yards.
The Wildcats (6-4) managed 119 yards rushing and completed 10-of-26 passes for 67 yards.
