Sharon shuts out Slippery Rock
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Mike Schneider threw touchdown passes of 51 and 23 yards to Jake Braymer and Justin Turnbaugh, respectively, and 250-pound converted lineman Wade Vogan had another tally as Sharon defeated Slippery Rock 37-0.
Justin Schweiss and Mike Bochert also tallied for playoff-bound Sharon (6-3), which had 229 yards rushing and 74 passing.
Vogan, a senior who was converted to fullback recently, also had a game-high 15 tackles from his linebacker spot.
Schweiss, a senior tailback who moved over from fullback, was the Tigers' top rusher with 124 yards on 29 carries.
As a defensive back, Schneider had an interception, as did Matt Gill, while Turnbaugh recovered a fumble.
Slippery Rock had 99 total yards.
New Brighton 34, Mohawk 21: NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. -- The Lions (7-2) scored at least one touchdown in every quarter.
Quarterback Tom Contenta scored on runs of 17 and 12 yards, and he threw touchdown passes to Todd Kordecki and Brian Hensley.
Contenta also threw a pass to Kordecki, who lateraled to Pat Glitch, that resulted in a 37-yard touchdown.
Travis Bessell of Mohawk (4-5) caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Carr. Bessell also scored on a 3-yard run.
Josh Shorts of the Indians dashed 61 yards for a touchdown, which was the final score of the contest.
