BURDMAN GROUP INC. Speaker kicks off leader's installation



Burdman offers vocational services in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
BOARDMAN -- Justin Daubenmire, the keynote speaker at Burdman Group Inc.'s annual dinner meeting, discussed the obstacles he overcame on the way to having a successful career as technical support person for Cboss Inc.
He is blind and, in addition to his regular duties at Cboss, he has helped with the design of Web sites that are accessible to people with disabilities.
The dinner was Thursday evening at Antone's Banquet Centre and it marked the installation of Richard Keyse as the board's president.
Keyse is a principal at Hill, Barth & amp; King and has been on Burdman's board since 1998, where he has had different offices and served on the board's ways and means committee.
About the agency: Burdman is a contract agency of the Mahoning County Mental Health Board and Trumbull Lifelines and is a Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way-funded agency.
The agency offers vocational rehabilitation and residential treatment programming to individuals with mental illness in addition to providing comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence.
Burdman also offers vocational services to adults and youth in both counties who are in need of specialized vocational planning due to special needs.
Martha Zarlenga and Chrysann Mitzel were this year's recipients of the Doris Burdman Service Award given annually to volunteers who have demonstrated commitment to mental health care and human services.
Both women have served on the Mahoning County Mental Health Board and the boards of several other community service organizations.
Installed officers: Other Burdman board officers installed at the meeting were Patricia Murphy, president-elect; Peter Woodlock, vice president; Brian Kolenich, treasurer; Pamela Miles, assistant treasurer; and Anthony Serluco, secretary.
New board members are Dennis Delon, Joan DeGiulio and Stanley Palumbo.
Astro Shapes, The Embassy and General Electric's Mahoning Glass Plant were honored for providing employment opportunities to Burdman's vocational rehabilitation clients.
