School donates funds
WARREN -- Pupils and staff at Warren Christian School have donated $600 to the Red Cross relief fund.
The school held an assembly to show support for the families of the New York World Trade Center disaster and to present a check to Jackie Wolf of the Trumbull County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The National Honor Society, under the direction of Jim Gregory, organized fund-raising efforts.
Roberta Kelly, principal, praised pupils for their efforts, saying, "What we are doing to help the families in New York is made possible by gifts like yours here at Warren Christian School."

Powder at high school
LISBON -- A letter that contained a powdery white substance was removed from David Anderson High School. The school received the suspicious envelope around 11:30 a.m. Thursday. It had a handwritten address with no return address.
The secretary, who received the envelope from a student who was sorting mail, placed the unopened letter in the principal's office. The assistant principal, wearing protective gloves, opened the envelope and saw the powdery substance. He immediately closed it and put it in a sealed plastic bag.
School officials notified the Lisbon police chief, fire chief and Columbiana County's health commissioner. Robert Morehead, health commissioner, determined there was no immediate danger to students and staff.
The office area was secured, and school officials were told the area would have to be cleaned with a bleach solution. The adults and the student aide who had handled the envelope were told to seek a precautionary evaluation from their doctors.
The school was open today.
Planned Parenthood
It's business as usual today at the Calcutta office of Planned Parenthood of the Mahoning Valley, 15549 state Route 170 in the Ogilvie Square East plaza.
The FBI reported Wednesday that the substance spilled from a letter at Planned Parenthood on Oct. 15 did not contain anthrax or any other living organism, a spokeswoman for St. Clair Township police said.
A manager at the Planned Parenthood office, who did not want to be identified, said she was notified Wednesday evening that she and another employee could return to the office today. Both are fine, she said. They sought treatment at East Liverpool City Hospital and were given the antibiotic Cipro as a precaution.
